Georges Méliès was a pioneering French filmmaker, actor, and magician who helped shape cinema into a storytelling art form in the early 1900s. Originally a stage illusionist, he brought theatrical magic to film, inventing techniques like stop-motion, multiple exposures, and elaborate set design. His most famous work, A Trip to the Moon, remains one of the earliest and most iconic science fiction films. Through imagination and technical experimentation, Méliès transformed film from simple recordings into fantastical visual narratives, laying the groundwork for modern special effects and cinematic storytelling.
